Play develops a child’s psychological, social and physical skills. Play is a way of processing various events and emotions and also a way of paying more attention to other people. A three-to-five-year-old still needs their parents for many things. A child should be encouraged to be independent and to engage in spontaneous play.

A child should also be helped to clean up after play. When talking with their child and truthfully answering her questions the parents help the child to structure issues she wonders about; at the same time naming skills and understanding of concepts improves.
